Description AKADEMIE ACRYL COLOR is one of the most popular lines of art supplies produced by the oldest German manufacturer, Schmincke. These are professional-grade acrylic paints of high quality. The range includes 52 base colorsand 8 special effect colors. This paste-like paint is easy to apply with palette knives or brushes to virtually any surface, forming a durable, rich, and vibrant layer. It blends well with a variety of Schmincke’s acrylic additives, pastes, gels, and mediums to create decorative effects. Modern, high-quality pigments, combined at high concentrations, result in very bright and saturated colors. All paints in the series boast high lightfastness, rated between 4 and 5. Once dry, the paints impart a slight sheen and gloss to the surface. If desired, the paint can be easily thinned with water, allowing the artist to work with an airbrush. You might get some curious questions when you show off a painting made with fluorescent acrylics, like these UV-reactive limited-edition colors from Schmincke. Under normal light, Akademie Neon Acrylics are oddly bright (photos can’t really capture this) because they emit energy that’s barely on the visible spectrum. These pigments are typically used for utilitarian purposes, like safety vests and street signs, but they’ve also been used by artists since midcentury for that impossible-to-mix glow. This set contains five full-size (60 mL) tubes of Akademie Acrylic in Neon Yellow, Neon Red, Neon Pink, Neon Green, and Neon Blue. Mixable and compatible with other acrylics — feel free to include these in your regular acrylic painting workflow. Please note that fluorescent pigments are fugitive; they fade over time and should not be used for commissioned work or long-term display. To preserve fluorescent artwork, store it in a drawer where UV light cannot reach it.
